PTAC vs Split Air Conditioner: Which Is Better for Hotels?

PTAC and split air conditioners are both widely used HVAC solutions, but they serve different applications.

A PTAC system is designed for commercial buildings such as hotels and apartments where each room requires independent temperature control. It is installed through a wall sleeve and does not require a separate outdoor unit per room, which simplifies installation in large projects.

In contrast, split air conditioners consist of indoor and outdoor units connected by refrigerant piping. While split systems are generally quieter and more energy efficient, installation becomes more complex and expensive in multi-room buildings.

For hotels, PTAC systems are often preferred because they reduce installation time, simplify maintenance, and allow fast unit replacement. This is especially important in large hospitality chains where downtime must be minimized.
